Go to Town buses, coming from West Norfolk Community Transport, is ready to launch this Sunday, April 29th. The first big day is Monday.
Local drivers have been employed and are being trained, and buses have started to arrive in Lynn from builders in Lancashire and Northern Ireland. Timetables are available from the bus station, online at www.wnct.co.uk (whilst we wait for the launch of our new Go To Town website) or by phoning 01553 776971 during office hours.
The town routes which will move to Go To Town are the 2 from North Lynn, the 3 from North and South Wootton, the 4 from Grange/Pandora which will now be routed via Lynnsport Way and North Lynn, and the 5 from Gaywood Park.
New fares and tickets will be introduced. The standard adult fare will be £2 with a LynnGo day ticket for as many journeys you want to make for £3.20. The LynnGo weekly ticket will be a straight £10 for as many trips you want to make across these routes for seven consecutive days.
Children under their 16th birthday will be charged at half fare and young adults 16 to 20 get 25% off. And to offer even greater value, in what is thought to be a UK first, the Young Adult fare will remain in force for not quite so young adults holding a Young Persons Railcard, currently available to their 26th birthday.
A cap of just £1 will apply on all single journey tickets sold before 9am. So adult fares will be halved and a third taken off young adult fares.
Howard Russell, Chief Executive, said Go To Town is well placed to make a real difference to using buses in the town. “We’re pleased with our new team of drivers, and our brand new low emission buses, some of these will be delivered before we launch, others will follow shortly afterwards, as a result, we regret that for the first few weeks some will not be painted in our instantly recognised blue colour. Importantly our commitment to hand any financial surpluses we make on these routes to our charity division remains from day one”.
